It’s safe to say, with the economy the way it is and has been recently, people are watching their money a little more closely. Large purchases are being researched heavily and thoroughly researched before decision making occurs, and consumers have been conditioned to seek out the best deals, sales, and prices on just about anything that is being bought. It’s almost common knowledge now that the best time to buy a computer is around “Back-to-School,” the worst time to get a gym membership is January, and if you’re in the market for a new car, you should wait til the end of the month.
All that being said, it’s no surprise that a question we hear a lot is, “When’s the best time to buy a mattress?”
Buying a mattress? Try mid-year holiday sales!
Lucky for consumers, mattresses go on sale fairly frequently throughout the year, but some of the best sales that you’ll find are around the mid-year holidays. Stores tend to use holidays like Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day to offer great sales for their customers that are in the market to buy a new mattress. If you’re not seeing the kind of sales you want at the big box chains, don’t forget to try looking at the “mom and pop” shops in your area! Often their promotions are just as good, and they tend to offer the same or comparable products to ones you might have seen in bigger stores.
Although people and bigger stores tend to focus on more typical “gift items” around the winter holidays, be sure to scour your local advertisements for Black Friday, New Years Day and After Christmas sales on mattresses too. You might be surprised at what you find!
Not looking to shop on a holiday? The best month of the year to shop for mattresses is May. This is typically when stores roll out their old models and bring in their new ones, and the old ones are often heavily discounted! Remember, it never hurts to ask a retail sales associate if their store has any discount specials coming up in the near future, or if they have a newsletter you can sign up for to get in on the specials before everybody else!
